Fabric Faces Class
Unleash your creativity and bring personality to life in fabric form in this hands-on class! In this workshop, you'll explore the art of creating unique fabric faces on a 12x12" background using an assortment of fabric scraps and glue. By layering different textures, colors, and fabrics, you’ll craft expressive faces full of character, emotion, and charm.
Christine Ricks will guide you through the process of building a foundation for your fabric face, from sketching the basic features to selecting materials that convey personality and depth. You can experiment with a variety of fabrics—with soft cotton quilting fabric, and even funky patterns—add dimension and life to your creation. Embellish with free-motion stitching to add those finishing touches that make your fabric face truly one-of-a-kind.
By the end of the class, you’ll have your very own fabric portrait, bursting with color, texture, and personality. Whether you’re a seasoned fabric artist or don’t feel like an artist at all, this class offers a fun, relaxing way to experiment with fabric art and explore the possibilities of storytelling through textile expression.

Improv Plus Quilts
Get ready to dive into the exciting world of improv quilting! This class will guide you through the process of creating a one-of-a-kind Improv Plus Quilt using fabric scraps and a simple, yet fun technique. We’ll focus on the beauty of working intuitively with fabric, no strict patterns required—just creativity and imagination!
This class is perfect for quilters of all levels, from beginners to experienced makers. We’ll start with the basics of improv quilting, emphasizing the freedom of design and the joy of making. Using 2 1/2-inch strips and large sections of background fabrics, we’ll teach you how to “puzzle” everything together to create a striking quilt with lots of texture and movement.
The Improv Technique:
Improv quilting is all about breaking free from traditional rules and embracing the art of spontaneity. This technique encourages you to experiment with angles, fabric placements, and color combinations. As you assemble the blocks, you’ll “puzzle” them together, arranging and rearranging until they fit just right. The result? A quilt full of dimension, texture, and endless personality, with no two quilts ever alike!
